Assam Excels in NATGRID Usage, Bolstering Security Apparatus
Guwahati: In a significant stride for internal security, Assam has been lauded as one of the top-performing states in effectively utilising the National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID) solution during the first half of 2025. This commendation comes directly from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, highlighting the state’s proactive approach to intelligence-driven policing.
A letter dated July 3, 2025, issued by NATGRID Chief Executive Officer Piyush Goyal, IAS, specifically singled out Assam, alongside Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra, for their consistent and impactful engagement with the intelligence platform from January to June this year. NATGRID, designed to fortify India’s counter-terrorism and intelligence-gathering capabilities, enables law enforcement agencies to access and analyse crucial data seamlessly. The Assam Police’s diligent adoption of this tool has demonstrably enhanced intelligence operations, contributing significantly to maintaining peace and security across the state. The communication from the NATGRID CEO praised Assam for its “consistent usage” and its role in “operationalizing data-driven policing tools.” The letter also acknowledged Tamil Nadu for its substantial progress in increasing active users on the platform during the same period. The Ministry has further urged other states to intensify their NATGRID engagement by organising more training and feedback sessions, besides appointing dedicated nodal officers, offering comprehensive training support upon request. This achievement firmly positions Assam at the forefront of leveraging advanced technological solutions for law and order, reinforcing its unwavering commitment to national security objectives.
