Assam Excise Department Seizes Arunachali Liquor Worth Rs 6 Lakh in Border Crackdown
Guwahati, 13th June: In a major crackdown on illegal smuggling, the Assam Excise Department has seized Arunachali liquor valued at approximately Rs 6 lakh during an intensified excise drive at the Assam-Arunachal border in Sonitpur district. The operation, conducted at the 12-mile mark of the border, resulted in the arrest of one trafficker.
Acting swiftly on a tip-off, the excise team intercepted a vehicle bearing the registration number AS-32-A-4373, which was transporting illicit liquor from Arunachal Pradesh into Assam. The department successfully apprehended the vehicle and seized the contraband.
Authorities have initiated further investigations to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the smuggling network, underscoring their commitment to combatting illegal activities along the state border.
This seizure marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to curb cross-border smuggling and maintain law and order in the region.
