Guwahati, 17th January: In a noteworthy accomplishment, Assam has successfully exported approximately 1,000 kg of Lablab Beans (Urohi) to the markets of London, England.
The shipment, produced by farmers associated with the Dihingparia Farmers’ Producer Company (FPC) in Nitaipukhuri, Sivasagar district, marks the second consignment following the recent export of 500 kg of Urohi.
State Agriculture Minister Atul Bora shared the news and emphasized the significance of Assam’s agricultural products gaining traction in the international market. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his delight on social media, acknowledging the hard work of farmers and the government’s commitment to revitalizing the agriculture sector.
This achievement follows the December 2023 export of 5,000 Assam lemons (Kaji Nemu) and around 500 kg of lablab beans to London, showcasing the state’s growing presence in the global agricultural market. The flag-off ceremony in December, attended virtually by Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, marked a significant milestone for Assam’s farmers venturing into international trade.
