Assam Extends ‘Anna Sewa Din’ Initiative Amid Ongoing Flood Crisis

Guwahati, July 9, 2024: In a proactive response to the current flood crisis gripping Assam, the state government, led by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, has announced the extension of the ‘Anna Sewa Din’ initiative until July 15, 2024. Initially designed to operate during the first 10 days of each month, this extension aims to ensure uninterrupted distribution of rice grains to eligible beneficiaries across the state.

The ‘Anna Sewa Din’ program, a cornerstone initiative of the Assam Government, plays a pivotal role in delivering essential food grains to those in need, especially during challenging times such as floods.

Initiated under the provisions of the National Food Security Act, 2013, ‘Anna Sewa Din’ has been pivotal in providing free food grains to eligible beneficiaries since December. The program reflects the government’s steadfast commitment to food security, addressing critical nutritional needs across Assam.

Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma underscored the importance of extending ‘Anna Sewa Din’ amidst the ongoing flood situation, emphasizing the government’s unwavering support for vulnerable communities during times of crisis.
