Assam Eyes New Japanese Language Centre to Boost Employment in Japan
Guwahati, Assam – Assam is poised to establish a dedicated Japanese Language Centre, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed following discussions with the ASEAN ONE delegation, headed by Toshiaki Nishikawa. This strategic move aims to cultivate a pool of proficient professionals capable of seizing short-term employment prospects in Japan.
The envisioned language centre forms a key component of Assam’s overarching strategy to foster enduring educational and economic ties with Japan, with a strong emphasis on skill enhancement and the exchange of human resources. By providing the necessary linguistic and cultural training, the centre seeks to empower the state’s youth to effectively tap into Japan’s job market.
This development follows closely on the heels of a significant visit by a high-level Japanese delegation, led by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nukaga Fukushiro. Notably, this marks the fourth such visit from prominent Japanese representatives since February, highlighting the escalating mutual interest and strengthening collaborative efforts between Assam and Japan.
Chief Minister Sarma expressed his optimism, stating, “These repeated visits by Japan’s top representatives are very encouraging for Assam.” He further highlighted the ongoing implementation of several development projects in the state with Japanese assistance. Assam’s consistent engagement, he affirmed, is geared towards attracting increased investment from Japan.
Recalling his recent trip to Japan in February, Sarma mentioned that the invitation for the Speaker’s visit was extended during a dinner hosted by Mr. Fukushiro. “He has now come here with a delegation of over 50 members,” Sarma informed the press, after accompanying the delegation to the location of the future Tata semiconductor manufacturing plant.
