Assam: Fake Candidate Caught at Assam HSLC Exam Centre, Headmaster Under Scrutiny

Guwahati: A major case of exam malpractice has come to light at Datirbari Koragari Higher Secondary School Examination Center, where a fake candidate was caught appearing for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) exam using a forged admit card.

The incident has sparked concerns over systemic loopholes and potential collusion among officials.

The accused, Harunur Rashid, a former student of Harendra Chitra College, allegedly manipulated his date of birth to appear younger, aiming to use the fake credentials to qualify for a police recruitment interview. Investigations have now linked Mohir Uddin, the headmaster of Koragari Pathar Regional High School, to the fraud, suggesting a wider network of malpractice.

The controversy deepened as it was revealed that Arup Das, a professor at Harendra Chitra College, was on duty as an examiner at the center. Rashid, having been a former student of Das, has raised serious concerns about insider involvement in the fraud.

Authorities are now facing questions about their negligence, as the fraudulent candidate managed to appear for four subjects before being caught. The incident has reignited scrutiny over the examination center, which has previously faced allegations of facilitating cheating. Notably, a similar case of a fake candidate being arrested was reported at the same center two years ago.

The revelation has put the exam authorities under intense pressure, with demands for stricter verification processes to prevent such incidents in the future. The investigation is ongoing, and further legal action against those involved is expected.
