Assam: Fake Notes Worth Rs 30 Lakh Seized in Guwahati

Guwahati, 14th October: In a recent operation, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam uncovered counterfeit notes amounting to Rs 30 lakh. This operation took place in a rented residence on Saukuchi Road, Dakhingaon, Guwahati.

The STF executed this operation based on specific intelligence regarding the circulation and distribution of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN). As a result, five individuals were arrested: Nizam Ali (50), Hafizur Rahman (36), Abdul Rajak (46), Munindra Hazarika (44), and Atikur Rahman (38).

The seized items included 26 counterfeit notes with a denomination of Rs 500 each, along with various materials used in the production of counterfeit currency, including chemical substances, black papers, and related paraphernalia. Additionally, the authorities confiscated mobile phones, a vehicle, and cash amounting to Rs 7,700.

The arrested individuals, along with the seized items, have been handed over to the Hatigaon Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge for further investigation and legal proceedings. This successful operation demonstrates law enforcement’s commitment to combating counterfeit currency and maintaining the integrity of financial systems.
