Assam: Fake Traffic Police Arrested In Sonitpur
Guwahati: A fake traffic police officer was captured in Sonitpur district of Assam on Saturday night.
According to reports, the accused was fining violators alongside actual police officers who were on duty.
Police said that the man arrived in a bus from Guwahati dressed as a traffic police officer and he alighted at Paruwa Chariali in Tezpur.
Soon after, he phoned a local traffic officer and began scrutinising automobiles for violations of the law.
The other traffic police in the area got suspicious and later called their seniors.
Seniors’ officers arrived on the scene and discovered the truth, leading to the arrest of the suspect, whose identity has not yet been determined.
Further research found that he had previously pretended to be a traffic cop in various locations, such as Rangia, Nagaon, and so on.
The accused is also revealed to be a prospective police officer. He was unable to accomplish his goals due to his scholastic constraints, so he turned to alternative methods.
