Guwahati: A fake Uttar Pradesh forest officer and two others have been arrested by Assam Police in Dhubri district of Assam on Sunday.
The fake officer has been identified as Ajab Singh hailing from Uttar Pradesh’s Badua and the two others have been identified as Akhir Hussain and Hanif Mitra from South Salmara in Dhubri.
According to reports, the police seized fake identity cards and Nepalese currencies from their possession.
They were taken into custody with an unregistered bike.
The three accused were engaged in a number of antisocial actions, including extortion, police informed.
They were acting suspiciously as they wandered around the forest officer’s official residence while donning uniforms from the Uttar Pradesh forest service when the police apprehended them.
