Assam: Fatal Accident in Rangapara Claims One Life, Injures Another During Bihu Festivities

Guwahati: A tragic road accident late at night near Hatibari Tea Garden in Rangapara has claimed the life of one person and left another critically injured, casting a shadow over the ongoing Bihu celebrations.

The deceased, identified as Ram Dayal Mahato, and the injured, Gobin Paik, both residents of Phulbari Tea Garden, were struck by an unidentified vehicle that fled the scene. Gobin Paik is currently undergoing treatment at Tezpur Medical College, where his condition is reported to be critical.

Eyewitnesses at the scene stated that the victims were hit by a speeding vehicle that failed to stop after the collision. Local residents and emergency responders rushed to assist, but Mahato was declared dead on the spot.

Police have launched an investigation to trace the vehicle involved and bring the perpetrator to justice. The incident has left the community in shock, overshadowing the festive spirit of Bihu with grief and sorrow.
