Assam: Fatal Hit-and-Run Incident Near Guwahati Airport Claims One Life, 8 injured
Guwahati, 19th April: A tragic hit-and-run accident near the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport on the outskirts of Guwahati has left one person dead and eight others injured, including school children, in Borjhar, sparking shock and grief within the community.
Initial reports indicate that the accident involved a collision between a speeding vehicle, allegedly belonging to the Indian Air Force, and a school van. The collision proved fatal for the van’s driver, identified as Bhaskar Kumar, while eight others, including teachers and children, sustained severe injuries.
Among the injured individuals are Suhan (5), Sujan Ali Ahmed (14), Adreja Begum (12), and Shaheen Afreen (6), who were swiftly transported to nearby medical facilities for urgent treatment.
The unfortunate incident occurred as the school van, bearing registration number ‘AS 01 BB 2102’, was en route to St Claret School in Borjhar. Eyewitnesses recounted that the vehicle from the Indian Air Force, bearing registration number 21BH5027A, collided head-on with the van before fleeing the scene.
In the aftermath of the accident, officials from the Indian Air Force promptly responded to assess the situation, while local law enforcement agencies mobilized to provide assistance and investigate the incident further.
