Assam: Father-Son Duo Drown Under Mysterious Circumstances During Janmashtami in Bongaigaon

Guwahati, August 26, 2024: In a tragic turn of events, a father and son from Kumarkata village drowned under mysterious circumstances while fishing at Doloni Beel in Jogighopa on the night of Janmashtami.

The victims, 45-year-old Puren Chandra Das and his 21-year-old son Ankur Das, went fishing at the beel late in the evening but did not return home. Their family, growing increasingly concerned, awaited their return throughout the night.

At dawn, locals began a search operation at Doloni Beel and discovered the bodies of Puren Chandra and Ankur floating in the water. The discovery has shocked the community and raised questions about the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

Adding to the mystery, a night watchman patrolling the area found abandoned torchlights and fishing gear on the banks of the beel, further deepening the intrigue surrounding the incident.

Jogighopa police arrived on the scene, recovered the bodies, and have launched an investigation to determine the cause of this tragic event. The investigation is ongoing as authorities seek to unravel the details of this unfortunate incident.
