Assam Finance Minister Ajanta Neog To Present Budget Today

Guwahati: The state budget for the fiscal year 2023–2024 will be presented by Assam’s finance minister, Ajanta Neog on Thursday during the Assam Legislative Assembly’s ongoing budget session.

The Assam budget session began on March 10 and is now in its fifth day. There will be a total of 14 sittings available during its duration which is set to carry till April 5.

The House will initiate its proceedings today with Question Hour. Following that, Ajanta Neog will introduce the House version of the Indian Partnership Amendment Bill.

The finance minister will then present the budget for 2023–2024 after that. The budget is anticipated to be presented today after 10:30 am, reports stated.

It should be mentioned that state budget will be released on March 16 according to remarks made by finance minister Ajanta Neog yesterday. This happened after it was first anticipated to be presented on March 15.

According to Neog, this year’s budget will handle socioeconomic state issues and offer some encouraging information for women.

Speaking on previous year’s budget, she said, “Last year attempts were to fulfill the promises made in the nine-month budget. We were quite successful in this regard.”

The Assam finance minister had earlier in February stated that the state’s budget for the fiscal year 2023–2024 will be realistic.

Speaking on the upcoming budget session of Assam, Ajanta Neog had said, “I am giving my word, this year’s budget is going to be realistic and the capital expenditure will increase”

She added that the budget for the previous year, which exceeded Rs. 1 lakh crores, was the greatest ever created in the state following independence.

Ajanta Neog had previously stated during the ongoing budget session that the government would be offering 40,000 new positions between May 10 and May 20.
