Assam: FIR Filed Against AIUDF Chief Badruddin Ajmal Over ‘Salang Chadar’ Controversy

Guwahati, 15th November: An FIR has been filed against AIUDF supremo and MP Badruddin Ajmal following the controversy surrounding his disposal of the revered ‘Salang Chadar’ during a public rally in Laharighat of Assam’s Morigaon district.

Asom Satra Mahasabha members accused Ajmal of insulting the Assamese nation and lodged the FIR at Morigaon Sadar Police Station.

Bimal Chandra Barkakati, the organization’s president, expressed concern over Ajmal’s actions as a public representative, citing potential communal tensions.

The FIR comes in the wake of Ajmal’s recent controversial remarks on November 11, where he faced criticism for advocating violence against video journalists.

The Central Margherita Muslim Committee condemned Ajmal’s statements, labeling him as the “most controversial person of our country.”

Mohammed Toufik Khan, the committee’s general secretary, expressed disappointment in Ajmal’s language, emphasizing the need for a dignified approach from a Member of Parliament and Islamic theologian.

Ajmal had declared on November 10 his readiness to handle cases involving the assault of video journalists and pledged financial support for such incidents.
