Assam: Fire Breaks Out in Gas Cylinder Vehicle Near Jorabat, No Casualties Reported
Guwahati: A vehicle transporting domestic gas cylinders caught fire near the Kali Temple at 8 Mile from Jorabat on Thursday, triggering widespread alarm.
The incident occurred as the vehicle, en route from Goalpara to Patarkuchi in Sonapur, reportedly ignited due to a mechanical fault.
The vehicle, bearing registration number AS 32 C 2293, was loaded with domestic cylinders from Hindustan Petroleum (HP) when the fire broke out unexpectedly.
The Jorabat Traffic Police and Fire Brigade responded swiftly, successfully containing the blaze and preventing a potential disaster in the area.
Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported, but the fire caused significant traffic congestion on the National Highway, disrupting vehicular movement for several hours.
Authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the mechanical fault and are exploring preventive measures to avoid such incidents in the future. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of vehicles transporting hazardous materials and the need for stringent safety protocols.
