Assam: Fire Engulfs Raimona National Park, Forest Department Mounts Response Efforts

Guwahati, 18th March: A devastating fire has engulfed Raimona National Park, with suspicions pointing to its origin around March 15th.

The blaze initially erupted in the Central and Sanfan range areas within the Kachugaon forest division, and its spread to multiple regions has raised concerns about containment efforts.

Forest Divisional Officer Bhanu Sinha is leading on-site efforts to control the fire, although challenges persist in fully managing the situation.

There is a looming possibility of escalation, necessitating heightened vigilance and continued response efforts.

While the forest department is exploring natural factors as potential triggers for the fire, suspicions also extend to smugglers, who are under scrutiny for their possible involvement.

This incident highlights the vulnerability of forested areas to such disasters and underscores the critical importance of swift and effective response measures to mitigate their impact on biodiversity and ecosystems.
