Assam: Fire Erupts in Kokrajhar’s Dotma Bazaar, Causes Rs 7 Lakh in Losses

Guwahati: A devastating fire broke out on the evening of February 24 at Dotma Bazaar in Kokrajhar district, Assam, leaving behind significant property damage. The blaze ignited at the residence of Manna Sarkar, a local small-scale businessman, who lives in the second section of the bustling market area.

Responding quickly to the emergency, local police were on the scene shortly after receiving the alert. Within 30 minutes, fire brigade personnel arrived and worked swiftly to bring the flames under control. Their prompt action helped prevent the fire from spreading further in the densely populated market area, potentially averting a more catastrophic scenario.

Despite the successful containment of the fire, it resulted in severe financial losses for Manna Sarkar. A substantial inventory of plastic and steel furniture stored at his residence was completely destroyed. Authorities have estimated the damage to be around Rs 7 lakh, marking a significant setback for the local businessman.
