Assam Flood: Walmart & Flipkart Contribute Over Rs. 2Cr towards Assam Relief Fund
Guwahati: The Walmart Foundation and Flipkart Foundation two of the largest online retailers said on Thursday that they have combined to donate more than Rs. 2 crore (USD 2,50,000) to Assam flood relief efforts.
The contributions will support those affected in the region, according to a joint statement released by the corporations. “Doctors for You” is a humanitarian group.
The Doctors for You offers healthcare and psychological support to the impacted community in addition to distributing relief kits filled with necessities including food, medicine, and hygiene goods.
Julie Gehrki, Vice President and CEO of Walmart Foundation said, “Our emotions are with those affected by the tragic flooding in Assam, and together with the Flipkart Foundation, we are here to support relief efforts.”
“Our goal is to offer the assistance, consideration, and compassion that the people of Assam need after the devastating floods. With the help of our coworkers throughout the organisation, we hope to mobilise resources and use our strengths to address the most pressing needs of individuals and communities ” Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Flipkart Group as reported by PTI.
As flooding continues in numerous areas of India, Flipkart, through its CSR division, is collaborating with Goonj to solicit donations from consumers in order to deliver life-saving medical supplies and vital relief supplies for the nation’s flood relief efforts. According to the statement, the corporation has also mobilised employee donations for this cause.
The Walmart Foundation is Walmart’s CSR division while the Flipkart Foundation represents the Flipkart Group.
