Assam Floods: PM Modi Takes Stock of Flood Situation, Assures All Possible Help

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi assessed the flood situation in Assam and promised all possible assistance from the Centre, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), the flood situation in Assam has worsened, with nine more persons killed and nearly 18 lakh people affected.

The ASDMA stated the deaths occurred in the Assam districts of Hojai, Nalbari, Bajali, Dhubri, Kamrup, Kokrajhar, and Sonitpur, according to a bulletin posted on Friday.

According to state data, there are currently 2,930 settlements under water throughout 96 revenue circles.

According to the bulletin, 18.94 lakh people are still affected in 28 districts across the state.

In the flood-affected regions of the state, flood waters have inundated 43,338.39 hectares of crops. In various parts of the state, the water levels of the Beki, Manas, Pagladiya, Puthimari, Jia Bharali, Kopili, and Brahmaputra rivers are over the danger level.

According to the alert, landslides were also recorded in Dima Hasao, Goalpara, Hojai, Kamrup and Kamrup (Metropolitan), and Morigaon.
