Assam: Floodwaters Inundate MadanMohan Road in Karimganj Town

Guwahati, 30th May: The bustling MadanMohan Road in Karimganj town has been engulfed by floodwaters from the Somal Kushiyara river, causing substantial disruption to local businesses and residents. As of this afternoon, the river’s water level surged past the danger mark, sparking widespread panic as it breached the Mathauri embankment and inundated the city area.

The flooding on MadanMohan Road, known as a key commercial hub, has dealt a severe blow to the city’s major traders. Numerous shops and establishments are now submerged, with goods and properties bearing extensive damage. The rapid rise of the Kushiyara river’s water level has left the community scrambling to safeguard their assets and ensure their safety.

Local authorities have issued warnings and are urging residents to evacuate to higher ground. Emergency services are on high alert, with concerted efforts underway to provide immediate relief and support to the affected areas.
