Assam: Flying Squad Seizes Rs 1.60 Lakhs in Cash in Dibrugarh Assembly Constituency
Guwahati, 20th March: In a recent operation conducted by the flying squad in the Dibrugarh Assembly constituency of the Dibrugarh electoral district, a significant sum of Rs 1.60 lakhs in cash was seized.
The seizure took place during a nighttime search operation at Sukapha Tinali on Tuesday (March 19). The individual from whom the money was seized was en route to Silapathar from Dibrugarh.
This development underscores the Election Commission’s vigilance and commitment to ensuring free and fair elections. In preparation for the upcoming elections, 25 groups of flying squads have been formed to closely monitor the situation and enforce election regulations.
This isn’t the first instance of such a seizure. In a similar operation in 2021, the Election Commission’s flying squad seized Rs 32 lakh unaccounted cash from a car in Biswanath district ahead of the Assam assembly elections. Such actions demonstrate the Election Commission’s dedication to upholding the integrity of the electoral process and curbing illegal activities during elections.
