Guwahati: A well-known folk culture researcher Dr Nabin Chandra Sarma passed away on Sunday due to old age.
Dr. Sarma, who was born in the Darrang district in 1938, was a pioneer in the study of Assamese traditional culture.
He also worked at Gauhati University as a professor of folk culture. He wrote several research books including Asamiya Loka-Samskritar Abhas and many others.
The Asam Sahitya Sabha presented Dr. Sarma with the Sahitya Mahiyan Samman.
There is a shadow of mourning in the literary and cultural world of Assam.
