Assam: Food Poisoning at Religious Event Affects Over 50, Emergency Medical Support Deployed
Assam: Over 50 residents from Barpathar in Assam’s Sarupathar sub-district fell ill after consuming prasad and meals served at a recent religious gathering.
Symptoms of food poisoning—such as severe stomach pain, vomiting, fever, and headaches—began to appear among attendees starting Saturday night.
In response to the growing number of cases, many affected individuals sought immediate treatment at nearby health facilities, including the Sarupathar Community Health Centre and Barpathar Health Centre.
Currently, 18 individuals, including four children, are receiving medical care at Sarupathar health center. Health officials have confirmed that all patients are stable and out of danger.
To provide additional support, a temporary medical camp has been set up in Bachapathar village to ensure continued care and assistance for those impacted by the incident.
