Assam: Four Apprehended in Connection to Hog Deer Killing at Kaziranga National Park

Guwahati, 4th Jan: Assam police, on January 4, arrested four individuals for their alleged involvement in the killing of a hog deer at Kaziranga National Park. The incident, reported by KNP, occurred on January 2 near No 1 Koilakhat village in Bokakhat, Golaghat district.

Responding swiftly, a dedicated team, including the Bokakhat Range Officer, Investigating Officer, and 10 armed personnel, was mobilized to the location. With the assistance of departmental sniffer dog, Leon, authorities traced the escape path of the poachers, leading to the recovery of significant items, including an iron spear believed to be the murder weapon, a bamboo stick, and a distinctive grey-colored cap.

The suspected poacher attempted to flee towards Diflu Tea Estate but was eventually apprehended. Further interrogation yielded crucial information about his direct involvement and the identities of his accomplices, resulting in the successful arrest of three more suspects linked to the hog deer killing.
