Assam: Gandhi’s led Congress Party down to catastrophic path
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Monday that the Gandhi family has led the Congress party down a catastrophic path.
The Congress Working Committee (CWC) voted on Sunday that Sonia Gandhi, the party’s interim president, will continue to lead the party until a presidential election is held.
“It’s the Congress party’s internal problem, and I don’t want to comment on whether the party should continue with the Gandhi’s leading them or not,” Sarma told the media on the sidelines of the state budget session, which began on Monday. However, the Gandhis’ election setbacks have demonstrated that they are incapable of leading Congress to victory. In this manner, the Congress will be virtually invisible at the panchayat level.”
Following Congress’ defeat in the recently ended elections in five states, there have been rumours of a possible change of guards within the Congress party. However, after a five-hour CWC meeting on Sunday, Congress spokesperson KC Venugopal stated that the CWC had expressed confidence in Sonia Gandhi’s leadership.
It may be mentioned that every party worker, according to the party leader, wants Rahul Gandhi to lead the party. He noted, however, that the new party president will be elected at the next Congress election.
