Assam: Garbage Collection Crisis Hits Guwahati

Guwahati: Residents of wards 43, 44, and 47 are facing a severe garbage collection crisis, with no collection services since October 10. Orion Society, the accepted bidder responsible for collecting waste from these areas, is currently embroiled in a legal battle in the High Court due to lack of proper documents.

The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) stepped in to take responsibility for collecting the garbage but has failed to do so, leaving residents struggling with overflowing trash bins and unsanitary conditions. Despite repeated calls to the GMC, there has been no response, exacerbating the situation.

The lack of garbage collection has raised concerns about public health and safety. Residents are calling for immediate action from the GMC to restore collection services and ensure the area remains clean and hygienic.
