Guwahati, 20th October: A gas leak continues to emanate from an oil well owned by Oil India Limited in Duliajan. This incident began on the evening of October 19, 2023, following an explosion.
There is an ongoing sense of panic at OIL’s oil field No 367 in Gajalbasti of Dirial tea estate in Duliajan, as efforts persist in attempting to control the gas leak. There are suspicions that some miscreants with malicious intent felled a Christmas tree last night, which triggered the gas release from the oil well.
According to OIL authorities, Oil India Limited is making its utmost effort to manage the leak with the assistance of a Crisis Team Management. Currently, water is still emerging from the well.
It has been stated by the authorities that this well operates under a Production Enhancement Contract with the private contractor KIRI of Gujarat.
