Assam: Gauhati High Court Convicts Former APSC Chairman Rakesh Paul and 33 Others in Recruitment Scam

Guwahati, July 22 On Monday, the Gauhati High Court delivered a landmark verdict in the APSC Agriculture Development Officer (ADO) recruitment scam, convicting former APSC Chairman Rakesh Paul and 33 others. The case, which revolves around irregularities in the 2013 recruitment process for ADO positions, is a significant chapter in the broader APSC cash-for-job scandal.

The scam, exposed between 2015 and 2016, involved allegations that candidates bribed officials to manipulate exams and secure government jobs. Rakesh Paul, who was central to the investigation, was accused of overseeing the flawed recruitment process during his tenure.

In addition to the 34 convictions, the court acquitted 10 individuals: Vikas Pincha, Kunal Das, Kaushik Kalita, Musharaf Hussian, Beauty Gogoi, Feroz Maran, Jyotiban Dutta, Seiz Ali Zohri, Dritiman Roy, and Mausomi Saikia.
