Assam: Gaurav Gogoi Questions Long-Term Prospects of PM Modi’s Leadership
Guwahati, June 7: In a recent statement, Congress leader and Assam MP Gaurav Gogoi raised doubts about the future of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure. Gogoi emphasized the qualities required to run a coalition government, including a large heart, an open mind, and an inclusive approach, which he believes PM Modi lacks.
Expressing uncertainty about Modi’s long-term prospects as Prime Minister, Gogoi remarked, “To run a coalition government, you need a large heart and an open mind inclusive approach… PM Modi does not have these qualities… His long-term prospect as the Prime Minister is suspect.”
Gogoi also thanked the people of Uttar Pradesh for what he perceives as elevating Rahul Gandhi’s stature above PM Modi’s. He noted that Gandhi received a larger mandate in Raebareli compared to Modi’s victory margin in Varanasi, casting doubt on Modi’s continuity as Prime Minister for the next five years.
Additionally, Gogoi condemned Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s recent statement regarding the NDA’s losses in Nagaland, Meghalaya, and Manipur, labeling it as “irresponsible and reckless.” He criticized Sarma for allegedly lacking the maturity to accept responsibility for these losses, emphasizing the need for accountability. Taking to Twitter, Gogoi wrote, “I condemn the irresponsible and reckless statement of the Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma. He does not have the maturity to accept the responsibility for the losses of the NDA in Nagaland, Meghalaya, and Manipur.”
