Assam gets 4 new districts, announces CM Sarma

Guwahati, 25th August: During a cabinet briefing on August 26, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the formation of four new districts.The decision which took effect on December 31st, is a proactive move toward restructuring the regional environment and attending to the state’s changing demands.

After a thorough delimitation process, the newly constituted districts of Hojai, Biswanath, Tamulpur, and Bajali were established.

According to Chief Minister Sarma, these changes are a part of a strategic effort to improve government effectiveness and bring public services closer to the general public.
