Guwahati: In a shocking incident, an Assembly MLA of Assam has been charged with kidnapping and assaulting a young woman from the Barpeta district.
The accused MLA has been identified as Ashraful Hussain.
The victim girl filed a complaint with the Dispur Police Station alleging that Ritul Hussain and a few of his pals had kidnapped her from Barpeta.
According to the girl, Ashraful Hussain’s assistant was Ritul. She was forcefully taken to the MLA hostel in the Assam Secretariat where she spent a considerable amount of time being physically and psychologically tormented.
She also claimed that she was forced to sign a marriage contract.
The victim has asked the police and the Assam chief minister to take appropriate action against the suspects in this regard.
The Guwahati Police have opened an investigation into the situation.
