Assam: Goalpara Police Seize 14.5 Lakh Fake Indian Currency Notes

Guwahati, 22nd August: During an operation in the Goalpara district of Assam on Tuesday, the Special Task Force (STF) Assam discovered 14.50 lakh rupees worth of counterfeit money.

In accordance with the instructions of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) STF Partha Sarathi Mahanta, an operation was conducted in the Krishnai area where they intercepted an ALTO car with the registration number AS18 F 6863 and recovered Rs. 14.50 in cash in denominations of 500.

Three people were detained in the meanwhile in relation to the seizure. Anowar Hussain, Rafiq Ahmed, and Growel Marak have been named as the suspects.

According to an STF officer, “STF Assam conducted an operation against FICN in the area under the control of the Krishnai Police Station under the direction of DIG Partha Sarathi Mahanta. Three mobile phones, 14.50 lakh false notes, and an Alto car were all recovered as a result of the operation. Furthermore, three people were apprehended in connection with the seizure.”

According to legal protocol, he advised that a case would be filed and an investigation is underway.
