Assam: Golaghat Police Seize Over 7 Kilograms of Narcotics, Make Multiple Arrests

Guwahati, 29th June: In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Golaghat police conducted a series of operations resulting in substantial seizures and arrests in Bokakhat, Assam.

The operation began with Golaghat police setting up a checkpoint on NH 39 based on actionable intelligence. Acting on a tip-off, officers intercepted a motorcycle and conducted a search, leading to the discovery of 5.048 kilograms of cannabis concealed in a plastic bag. The individual in possession, identified as Manik Ahmed from Bokakhat, was promptly taken into custody. Legal proceedings have been initiated against him under relevant laws.

Building on this initial success, authorities continued their investigations and targeted suspects associated with the initial seizure. Further searches were conducted at the residences of Bijit Nath, also known as Bonguti, and his associate Tridib Gogoi. During these searches, police recovered an additional 2.032 kilograms of ganja. Additionally, three mobile phones and three vehicles suspected to be linked to illegal activities were seized as evidence.

The Golaghat police emphasized that these operations are part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region. The seized narcotics, along with the arrested suspects and confiscated items, are now subject to legal proceedings to ensure accountability and deterrence.

Authorities are continuing their vigilance and efforts to maintain law and order, urging cooperation from the public in combating the menace of narcotics in the community.
