Assam: Gold Biscuits worth Rs 3 Cr seized at Guwahati Railway Station
Guwahati: Government Railway Police (GRP) on Wednesday seized a large amount of gold from a suspected smuggler at Guwahati Railway Station, one of the busiest railway stations in Assam.
One person, identified as Sharif Alam, was arrested in connection with the seizure.
The GRP team recovered 20 gold biscuits weighed 3.20kg from the suspected smuggler at the railway station.
Acting on intelligence inputs, the GRP team conducted an operation at Paltan Bazar Railway Station where they successfully seized a huge amount of gold biscuits from Rajdhani Express and apprehended.
The estimated cost of the seized gold was said to be Rs 3 crores.
It was learned that the gold biscuits was being smuggled to the national capital from Manipur but was intercepted in Guwahati.
This is the third major gold smuggling case to be intercepted at Guwahati Railway Station this month.
