Assam Government Announces 4% DA Hike for State Employees and Pensioners

Guwahati, 14th March: In a positive development for state government employees in Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma declared a 4% increase in dearness allowance (DA) for both employees and state pensioners, effective from January 1, 2024.

Speaking at a press conference in Guwahati today, CM Sarma assured that despite the approaching Lok Sabha elections, the government would disburse the increment in installments to the beneficiaries’ accounts.

Furthermore, addressing concerns regarding the recruitment process for Grade IV employees in Lower Primary (LP) and Middle English (ME) Schools in Assam, CM Sarma announced that recruitment for LP, ME, and Higher Secondary Class IV employees would be conducted in their respective villages on a merit basis.

In another significant development, CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma will inaugurate the six-lane Basistha-Jalukbari stretch of the Guwahati Bypass today at 11 am. The completion of this 16.448-kilometre project, five months ahead of schedule, includes four flyovers and a vehicular underpass, providing substantial relief to commuters.

Additionally, the Assam government has introduced special discounts for individuals utilizing solar panels, with further benefits extended to journalists. CM Sarma announced the discount scheme, offering reductions of Rs 15,000, Rs 30,000, and Rs 45,000 on 1 kW, 2 kW, and 3 kW panels, respectively, during the press conference.
