Assam Government Announces Decisions In Aftermath Of Meghalaya Border Unrest
Guwahati: The Assam government has decided to delegate the probe into the unrest at Mukhrow in West Karbi Anglong in the bordering areas with Meghalaya in addition to create an inquiry commission.
This occurs when regional issues are on the rise as a result of a shooting event that resulted in the deaths of six people in total.
A Judicial Inquiry has been launched by the Assam government led by a retired High Court judge to determine the facts, circumstances and precise causes of the incident, according to a notification from the state government.
Additionally, the Assam government has approved the suspension of police officers for discharging their duties. The superintendent of police (SP) Imdad Ali of the West Karbi Anglong district had been transferred while Kajal Nath, the officer in charge (OC) of the Jirikinding Police Station had been suspended, according to the notification.
The Kheroni Forest Range’s Forest Protection Officer Shikari Enghi has also been immediately suspended.
Meanwhile, the Assam government has also mentioned that the six deceased who slained in the shooting incident will be given an ammount of 5Lakhs each.
Additionally, the state administration has announced that all members of the police and forest forces whose identities have surfaced in connection with the incident will be barred from their respective reserves.
It should be mentioned that late last night, a bunch of miscreants allegedly set fire to the forest department officials’ campground at Mukhrow. Four persons were reportedly murdered in a shooting incident earlier in the day.
