Guwahati: The Assam government has approved an additional Rs 116.20 crore for the expansion of approach roads leading to the upcoming Integrated Terminal at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport.

This decision raises the total budget for the project to Rs 2,474 crore, up from the initially allocated Rs 2,358 crore.

The new Integrated Terminal, set to become operational soon, is expected to significantly increase the airport’s annual passenger handling capacity to over 13 million. To ensure smooth passenger movement, the government has prioritized infrastructure upgrades along the critical stretch from VIP Junction to Dharapur.

The Cabinet’s revised allocation aims to expedite the construction process and ensure the timely completion of these road enhancements. The improvements are expected to reduce congestion and facilitate smoother passenger flow, complementing the expanded terminal’s operations.

With these developments, the enhanced connectivity will support the growing aviation demands of the region and offer a better travel experience for passengers.
