Assam Government Decides to Regularize Jobs for 40,000 Contractual Teachers in State Schools

Guwahati, 14th November: The Assam government has announced its decision to regularize the jobs of approximately 40,000 teachers employed in government schools across the state on a contractual basis.

Education Minister Ranoj Pegu stated that this includes over 25,000 Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET)-qualified teachers and 9,500 contractual teachers in primary schools, along with 4,500 teachers handling classes 9 and 10.

Pegu mentioned that the regularization process aims to be completed by March next year, and the earlier service length of contractual teachers won’t be considered in calculating their new salaries after joining regular posts.

The move aligns with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s announcement during this year’s Independence Day speech.
