Assam Government Facilitates Safe Return of Resident Family Following J&K Terror Attack

Guwahati, Assam – The Assam Chief Minister’s Office has swung into action to coordinate the return of a state resident and his family who narrowly escaped a deadly terror attack near Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.

In an official statement released earlier today, the CMO affirmed its commitment to ensuring the swift and secure return of the entire family to Assam. The state government is reportedly working in close collaboration with the central government to streamline the necessary arrangements.

Among the survivors is Debashish Bhattacharjee, a professor at Assam University, who was vacationing in the area with his family. Initial reports indicate that Professor Bhattacharjee was held at gunpoint during the attack that occurred in the scenic Baisaran meadow. Tragically, the incident claimed the lives of 28 individuals, including two foreign nationals. Professor Bhattacharjee and his family, however, managed to escape the horrific situation.

The Assam government has strongly condemned the terror attack, labeling it as “dastardly.” The state administration has further conveyed its unwavering support to the victims of the attack and underscored the paramount importance of guaranteeing the safe passage of Professor Bhattacharjee and his family back to their home state.
