Assam Government Initiates Land Acquisition for Kamakhya Corridor Project
Guwahati, 5th August: The Assam Government has taken a significant step towards beautifying and developing the area surrounding the revered Kamakhya temple by initiating the land acquisition process for the Kamakhya corridor project.
Notices have been sent to the landowners whose properties will be affected by the project, and a list of the land parcels has been prepared and sent to the Kamakhya Dham for verification.
The government envisions that the project will not only enhance the religious and cultural significance of the temple but also bolster tourism in the state.
The Kamakhya temple, nestled in the Nilachal hills of Guwahati, holds immense historical and spiritual importance as a center for Tantric practices, devoted to Goddess Kamakhya.
The proposed renovation aims to make the temple even more stunning, and the government has conceptualized a state-of-the-art ‘Maa Kamakhya Corridor,’ inspired by the renowned Vishwanath and Mahakal Corridors. The corridor will encompass Pravesh Prangan, Maa Chinnamasta Prangan, and Maa Kamakhya Prangan, with each Prangan representing a ‘corridor.’
The project includes the construction of pathways for devotees, with covered roofs during the summer months. A dedicated VIP pathway will also be created, and the main entrance will feature lush plantations on both sides of the road. The blueprint emphasizes ample space, greenery, and aesthetic enhancements for the temples.
