Assam Government Launches Financial Assistance Program for Entrepreneurs
Guwahati, 30th September: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced the fulfillment of another key resolution made to the public in 2021, providing financial assistance of up to ₹2 lakh each to 2 lakh entrepreneurs across Assam. This initiative aims to foster self-reliance and reduce unemployment in the state, following the government’s previous commitment to creating nearly 1.5 lakh government jobs.
The program is part of the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan (CMAAA), which focuses on empowering the youth of Assam through financial support, training, and market access. “Through this scheme, we are committed to empowering our youth to become self-reliant by providing financial assistance, training, and market access,” Sarma stated.
The assistance provided is categorized as a seed investment rather than a loan, aiming to bolster entrepreneurship in various sectors such as agriculture, fisheries, and self-employment. A total subsidy grant of ₹510 crore has been allocated for this initiative.
Eligible entrepreneurs are required to present valid identification documents, including PAN cards, Aadhaar cards, or any government-recognized photo ID, to collect their funds. Moreover, further financial assistance will be available upon the completion of three days of industry-specific training, reinforcing the government’s commitment to sustainable entrepreneurship development in the state.
