Assam Government Launches ‘Pitri Matri Vandana’ Leave Initiative to Encourage Family Care
Guwahati: The Assam Government has introduced a distinctive leave program called Pitri Matri Vandana, aimed at encouraging state employees to spend quality time with their parents and in-laws.
Scheduled from November 6 to November 10, 2024, this initiative reflects cultural values of honoring and caring for the elderly.
This special casual leave aligns with significant public holidays, including Chhath Puja on November 7, and the second Saturday and Sunday, allowing employees to enjoy an extended five-day break. The initiative is designed for employees to dedicate time to their parents or in-laws, fostering love, respect, and companionship among family members.
Notably, the leave is restricted to activities directly related to family care, preventing misuse for personal matters unrelated to the program’s intent.
To maintain essential services across the state, employees in critical sectors are permitted to take this leave in phases. However, those without living parents or in-laws are ineligible to apply. For further details and application procedures, interested employees can visit the dedicated Pitri Matri Vandana portal at matripitrivandana.assam.gov.in.
