Assam Government Opens Applications for Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarships for 2024-25
Guwahati, September 7 – The Assam government has officially launched the application process for its Pre-Matric and Post-Matric scholarship schemes for the 2024-25 academic year, aiming to support marginalized communities through education.
These scholarships are available to students from Scheduled Caste (SC) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) backgrounds, reflecting the state’s commitment to reducing economic barriers and enhancing academic opportunities.
Eligible students, including those enrolled in government and government-aided schools, as well as those pursuing higher education in technical and medical fields, can apply through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at www.scholarships.gov.in.
Key eligibility criteria include holding a valid SC or OBC caste certificate from the District Commissioner’s office and having a parental income not exceeding Rs 2.5 lakhs per year, verified by the local Circle Officer. Applicants must also register on the NSP OTR app, available on the Google Play Store, using Aadhaar and mobile number authentication. For minors, parents’ Aadhaar details can be used for verification. Additionally, an Aadhaar-linked bank account is required to receive scholarship funds via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
The application period for Pre-Matric Scholarships (for students in Classes IX & X) runs from July 23 to September 30, 2024, with institute verification to be completed by October 15, 2024. Applications for Post-Matric Scholarships are open until October 31, 2024, with institute verification required by the end of October.
