Assam: Government Railway Police Seize 130 Sacks of Suspected Burmese Supari in Major Raid

Guwahati, 11th August: In a notable operation, the Government Railway Police (GRP) successfully intercepted a large consignment of suspected Burmese supari during a raid on the Namnimua Kamrup Express at New Bongaigaon railway station. A total of 130 sacks of the contraband were confiscated.

The seized goods were being transported from Dimapur in Nagaland to Howrah, highlighting concerns over the misuse of railway routes for illegal trade. The GRP’s prompt action underscores the ongoing issue of smuggling along this route. Further investigations are in progress to identify the origins and intended recipients of the seized supari.
