Assam Government Recruits 5 New Commando Battalions To Strengthen Security
Guwahati: The Assam government on Friday made a crucial move to recruit five newly raised commando battalions in an effort to increase the security of the state.
The Indian Army will train these new Assam Police commandos at seven different places throughout the state.
The inaugural ceremony of Assam Police training is being held at Narangi Cantt in Guwahati today.
The programme was attended by senior army officials along with Assam Director General of Police (DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta.
The programme would train about 3,000 people from the five new commando battalions, Mahanta informed in the ceremony.
Two of them would be deployed to uphold general law and order while three of them will be used for anti-terrorism operations, the DGP further said.
