Assam Government to Launch Vikas Yatra from March 1-10 Ahead of Elections

Guwahati, 19th February: In preparation for the upcoming elections, the Assam government is gearing up to embark on a Vikas Yatra across the state. Over the span of ten days, the government plans to unveil projects worth more than Rs 25,000 crore, dedicated to the welfare and development of the people.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, along with other cabinet ministers, will lead the Yatra, engaging with citizens and showcasing the government’s commitment to progress and prosperity.

A total of 3,290 projects are slated to be part of the Vikas Yatra, with an estimated cost of Rs 25,311.01 crore. According to data shared by CM Sarma on social media, the Yatra will include 1,789 projects for foundations, amounting to Rs 17,004.24 crore. Additionally, 1,513 projects are earmarked for inauguration, with a total cost of Rs 5,407.38 crore.

Among the key initiatives, the government plans to establish 330 schools in general areas, with an investment of Rs 2,309.83 crore. Furthermore, 99 schools are set to be established in tea garden areas, with a budget of Rs 306.06 crore, aimed at enhancing educational infrastructure and access in these regions.

Additionally, the government aims to establish 189 Jagannath Community Centres, facilitating community engagement and cultural activities, with an allocated budget of Rs 283.50 crore.

The Vikas Yatra underscores the government’s dedication to holistic development and inclusive growth across Assam, ensuring the welfare and progress of all its citizens.
