Assam Government, World Bank Discuss Ways to Fast Track Projects
Guwahati: Assam government and the World Bank have decided to speed up the completion of active projects and the approval process for others that are in the pipeline, according to a press release.
The ongoing externally aided projects (EAPs) and the proposed projects to be financed by the international financial institution were discussed at a meeting of World Bank representatives and state government representatives on Monday night, it said. The meeting was presided over by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The remaining pieces of the ongoing projects will be completed more quickly, and the approval process for starting those on the pipeline will be sped up, the two parties agreed.
The Chief Minister thanked the World Bank for its unwavering support in helping Assam realise its growth potential during the interaction. Chief Minister exuded optimism that the partnership between Assam and the Bretton Woods institution will only grow stronger in the days to come as the two parties begin new projects and programmes in the state.
The “State Public Procurement Portal,” which will serve as a one-stop shop for public procurements of various sizes and kinds, was also launched by the Chief Minister in front of the World Bank delegation. According to the Chief Minister, this is done to guarantee transparency in the government of Assam’s public procurement. Notably, this is the second portal of its kind to be introduced by a state government.
