Assam Government’s Revised Tax Policy: Celebrating Bihu Requires a Rs 300 Fee – Full Details Inside
Guwahati, 22nd November: An uproar has ensued among the citizens and political factions in Assam following the issuance of a revised tax policy by the state government. The updated regulations mandate a payment of Rs 300 for obtaining permission to organize cultural processions, ceremonies, and events, including Bihu functions.
Moreover, various other fees have been introduced, such as Rs 2,000 for organizing political rallies, events, and meetings, along with all types of sports events.
Street plays, awareness rallies, and similar activities require a payment of Rs 500, while organizing trade fairs, food expos, and other events necessitates a fee of Rs 5,000.
In a contrasting move, individuals aspiring to open petrol pumps and gas agencies are now obligated to pay a substantial amount of Rs 10,000.
Additionally, verification fees of Rs 300 are applicable for workers involved in construction and for verifying rented accommodations and PG facilities.
The modifications, implemented by the Governor of Assam, stem from the fees and charges associated with the Assam Police Citizens Service Portal, known as Assam Police Sewa Setu.
These changes align with Section 4 of the Assam Right to Public Services (Amendment) Act, 2019, providing the legal framework for the revised tax and fee system governing authorizations for various services.
