Assam Governor Launches New Schemes to Inspire Youth and Strengthen Community Engagement
Assam: In a significant step towards fostering patriotism and community welfare, Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya launched three innovative schemes—Rashtriya Kritagyata Evam Jagrookta Yojana, Kartavya se Vikas Yojana, and Amrit Sarovar – Sadbhavna Sangat Protsahan Yojana—at a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Guwahati, on January 4.
The Governor emphasized the importance of channeling students’ “unbridled energy” to create transformative changes for the betterment of society.
The Rashtriya Kritagyata Evam Jagrookta Yojana aims to instill gratitude and respect among the youth for the armed forces.
Developed in collaboration with the Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Assam, this initiative will involve sensitization programs in schools, colleges, and universities across the state. Serving officers, ex-servicemen, and Veer Naris will share their experiences, inspiring students with lessons in patriotism, discipline, and dedication to the nation.
Meanwhile, Kartavya se Vikas Yojana focuses on cultivating a sense of responsibility among youth and raising societal awareness. Implemented in partnership with Nehru Yuva Kendra, this scheme will organize awareness campaigns in educational institutions, covering themes like Fundamental Duties, Nationalism, and National Integration.
By igniting the spirit of duty, the initiative seeks to empower students to contribute to the vision of a “Viksit Bharat” and support the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat mission.
The Amrit Sarovar – Sadbhavna Sangat Protsahan Yojana envisions transforming Amrit Sarovars into hubs of community engagement and goodwill. The scheme incorporates the installation of solar plants, flagpoles, and the creation of community spaces to foster unity and rejuvenate village life.
Activities such as tree plantation drives and celebrations of national days will promote a sense of togetherness, inspired by the ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Acharya underscored the privilege of serving the nation through the armed forces and the duty of citizens to honor their contributions. He encouraged students to be innovative in their endeavors, particularly in uplifting the underprivileged.
Highlighting the transformative potential of the schemes, he urged educational institutions to make the Prime Minister’s Mann Ki Baat program accessible to students and teachers, describing it as a source of inspiration for societal progress.
The event witnessed the participation of prominent dignitaries, including Additional Chief Secretaries Dr. J.B. Ekka and B. Kalyan Chakravarthy, Vice Chancellors from leading universities, and senior officials from various departments. This launch follows the Governor’s introduction of five other impactful initiatives in 2024, reflecting his continued commitment to driving holistic development in Assam.
