Guwahati: The Assam government proposed a financial incentive for inter-caste marriage schemes in the years 2021-22 on Thursday.
The state government is accepting applications for incentives from inter-caste married couples. The scheme is available to inter-caste couples who marry between April 2019 and March 2021.
The programme will help couples whose intercommunity weddings are being opposed by their families. The state will provide them with a sum that will allow them to at least establish a small business.
“Applications are solicited from inter-caste married couples for availing cash incentive under the Inter Caste Marriage Scheme 2021-22,” the Assam government posted on Twitter.
The deadline for application submissions has been established for December 3, 2021.
